The NORDTRIB symposium is held biennially in one of the Nordic countries: Finland, Sweden, Norway and Denmark. Over the years the Symposium has evolved into a highly regarded venue for the international tribology community. NORDTRIB is intended as a forum where researchers and developers from universities, research institutes and industry can present their latest contributions and also discuss field-related issues.

In 1984, the NORDTRIB symposium was held for the first time in Finland. In 2016 the 17th NORDTRIB Symposium will take place in Finland in the City of Hämeenlinna. Conference venue is Spa Ho Rantasipi Aulanko in Aulanko. NORDTRIB 2016 will be hosted by the Finnish Society for Tribology and VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland Ltd.
